The Mt. Angel-based corporation, Oktoberfest, Inc., established the Mt. Angel Community Foundation in 1995, to develop and fund long-lasting community projects beyond the scope of Mount Angel's annual harvest festival.
This vision led to the development of its first project, an endowed Scholarship Program for graduating seniors of Mt. Angel's John F. Kennedy High School. Currently, the program provides ten competitive scholarships each year. In addition to academic criteria, the awards consider factors such as leadership, character, community service, work ethic and life goals preparation.
The Foundation helped raise funds for the creation of Mt. Angel's Glockenspiel; a picturesque, focal point for our village. Funds are now used to maintain this unique feature.
Our latest project is to complete and furnish the Mt. Angel Community Festhalle; a new community building designed to serve as a multipurpose gathering and event space. Phase one and phase two construction is complete, and the building is open for community group meetings and event rentals by the public. Reservation information is available on the Mt. Angel Oktoberfest website: https://oktoberfest.org.
We continue to raise funds to complete and furnish this building to meet community needs, so it can serve as a valuable resource for many years to come.
